Transport electronics specialist ZF has launched a new telematics system for trailers that combines advanced brake and tyre pressure monitoring for the first time.
Billed as a solution for commercial vehicle operators who need to improve uptime and reduce running costs across a fleet of trailers, ZF’s trailer telematics system provides real-time OptiTire tyre pressure monitoring systems, trailer Electronic Braking Systems (including next-generation iEBS), and the trailer Operating Data Recorder (ODR) in a single package.
According to ZF, the new combined package can improve trailer performance and reliability for trailer OEMs and trailer fleet operators.
“Trailer builders can also improve their production processes, customer service and trailer designs while generating cost savings,” ZF said.
“Fleet managers can also benefit by being able to optimise fuel efficiency and driver effectiveness.”
The ZF trailer telematics system can also link up to the company’s SCALAR cloud platform via the SCALAR EVO Pulse data collector that helps to monitor trailer health.
ZF trailer solutions vice-president Christiaan Verschueren said the group continued to innovate through smart components, digital solutions and services supporting trailers.
“By being able to access technical data relating to the performance of their trailers, manufacturers can further enhance their designs to develop more robust and reliable trailers for their customers,” Verschueren said.
