This refers to recently introduced legislation which has made changes to the way pricing is displayed to consumers. The legislation aims to enable consumers to compare similar products and make informed purchasing decisions. As a result of this legislation, we have made some changes to our site which we believe will assist consumers in comparing products.
This price includes dealer and government costs borne by the consumer, such as stamp duty, dealer delivery (if it is a new vehicle) and accessories that are either factory fitted or dealer fitted on this particular vehicle. Other Costs associated with car insurance etc are not included unless stated. Drive Away prices are indicative only – government charges vary according to the purchaser’s personal circumstances (for example, postcode, driving history and how the purchaser intends to use the vehicle). Consult a dealer to determine charges applicable to you. On occasion, the provision by a dealer of both an Excludes Government Charges and Drive Away / Ride Away price may result in the Drive Away / Ride Away of an item being displayed which is over and above the price range you have entered. The reason for this is to enable a consumer to conduct an "apples with apples" comparison with any other Exc Govt. Charges vehicles on the website which meet the search criteria they have entered (eg: private seller items).
This stands for "Excludes Government Charges". The price includes the price of the vehicle, GST, dealer delivery (for Brand New Items in Stock) and vehicle options and accessories. It may also include any known incentives offered by the dealer. EGC excludes stamp duty and other government charges. Some dealers have chosen to provide this pricing to enable you to more accurately compare this dealer's pricing to a private seller's pricing, and/or because they do not remit those government charges on your behalf. You should be aware that you will be required to remit those charges to the government direct. On occasion, the provision by a dealer of both an Excludes Government Charges and Drive Away / Ride Away price may result in the Drive Away / Ride Away of an item being displayed which is over and above the price range you have entered. A private seller is a person who sells a vehicle on the Carsales network who is not a Licensed Motor Car Trader (LMCT). A private seller is not required to stipulate government charges such as stamp duty, registration and transfer fees in their selling price.
This stands for Dealer Brand New Items in Stock. Due to new Clarity in Pricing legislation, some dealers may not be able to give you a price (refer POA explanation below) and will require further information from you in order to provide a price for the vehicle. They may also be an "Excludes Government Charges" or a "Drive Away" dealer (refer Excl. Govt. Charges and Drive Away explanations above). On occasion, the provision by a dealer of both an Excludes Government Charges and Drive Away price may result in the Drive Away of a car being displayed which is over and above the price range you have entered. The reason for this is to enable a consumer to conduct an "apples with apples" comparison with any other Excludes Govt. This stands for a dealer's used or demonstration vehicles. These dealers may advertise as "Excludes Government Charges" or "Drive Away" / "Ride Away" (refer Excl. Govt. Charges and Drive Away / Ride Away explanations above).
Under Competition and Consumer Clarity in Pricing legislation, a dealer must provide you with a single figure price for an item when they make a price representation. In this situation, a single figure price cannot be provided to you at this point in time - For example, in the case of a manufacturer, the manufacturer price may not include all costs and charges which you must pay. Alternatively, a dealer may not be able to give you a single figure price until they have further details from you. Eg: further details on the exact item specifications you are interested in purchasing, and/or the State in which you live.
This refers to the price provided to us by a manufacturer for a vehicle and excludes costs, such as options, dealer delivery, stamp duty, and other government charges, that may apply. Always check the single figure price with the seller of a vehicle before purchasing.
