Fuso is poised to bolster its Shogun range, with a new 13-litre model set to complement the existing range of 8-litre and 11-litre variants from October 2021.
Powered by Daimler’s OM471 13-litre six-cylinder turbo-diesel, the newcomer sees the Shogun line break the 500hp barrier for the first time, the unit producing a claimed maximum output of 510hp and 2500Nm.
The existing line-up currently has outputs spanning 360hp/1400Nm (Shogun 360), 395hp/2000Nm (Shogun 400) and 455hp/2200Nm (Shogun 460).

Fuso Australia says the new truck will be “the best-performing Japanese truck in Australia, with a big torque advantage”, and that the model has been produced in response to customer demand for a “true high-performance Japanese heavy-duty B-Double-capable truck”.
The Daimler OM471 powerplant is said to produce maximum power at 1600rpm and maximum torque from 1100rpm. A Euro 6-compliant unit, the engine features an asymmetric turbocharger and is mated to a Daimler 12-speed automated manual transmission.
The truck has undergone extensive testing since 2017, including here in the Australian outback, as well as in South Africa and New Zealand.
Fuso Australia says it will release more information on the new Fuso Shogun 510 closer to its official launch.
