With the separation of Daimler Truck and Bus from the global giant’s passenger car arm now complete, Daimler Truck and Bus Australia Pacific has announced it too has split from Mercedes-Benz cars.
According to Daimler Truck and Bus Australia Pacific, the separation of the two entities now means it will be able to place 100 per cent of its focus on its commercial vehicle operations, thereby better serving its commercial vehicle customers across its Mercedes-Benz Truck and Bus, Freightliner and Fuso brands.

The new arrangement means Daimler Truck and Bus Australia Pacific has grown its workforce as previously shared internal services have been allocated to either division, while it has also led to the creation of an all-new commercial vehicle finance company: Daimler Truck Financial Services.
The new arm takes over from Mercedes-Benz Financial Services, which previously provided finance for both Daimler trucks and Mercedes-Benz passenger cars.
Headquartered in Mulgrave, Victoria, Daimler Truck Financial Services will be headed up by Craig Cubitt (pictured, left), who brings a wealth of commercial vehicle finance experience to his new role of CEO.
Daimler Truck and Bus Australia Pacific President and CEO, Daniel Whitehead (pictured, right), said Daimler Truck’s new independence was a big step forward.
“We are excited that Daimler Truck is now a standalone global entity because we know that independence will make us more nimble and enable us to continue making the investments needed to develop the best trucks, buses and associated services of the future,” he said.
Mr Whitehead said the formation of a dedicated financial services company for Daimler Truck and Bus would deliver benefits on many levels.
“Running a fleet of trucks or buses is very different to operating a passenger vehicle and the finance requirements customers need for their business are also unique,” he said.
“We are excited that Craig and his entire team will now be able to focus solely on our truck and bus customers and provide them with the best and most innovative commercial vehicle financial products and services.”
Mr Cubitt said Daimler Truck Financial Services is perfectly positioned to deliver premium products and services to Daimler Truck and Bus customers.
“We aim to be a truly customer-focused organisation that puts our truck and bus customers at the centre of everything we do,” he said.
“Our new structure as a stand-alone finance company means we can serve our truck customers and dealers better than ever before.”
Daimler Truck Financial Services has offerings spanning business asset loans, hire-purchase and leasing, along with some unique products the company says aren’t available anywhere else.
Its ‘Fast Track Finance’ product offers a rapid and streamlined approval process, while the Daimler Guaranteed Buy Back program provides customers with a guaranteed future value on their Daimler truck.
