Ford announces 2021 Ranger Wildtrak X

Ford to add another model to its chart-topping 4x4 ute range for 2021

The Ford Ranger Wildtrak X special-edition has been updated for 2021, bringing a host of extra cosmetic enhancements including a new Ebony Black styling package for only $200 more than before.

Available in showrooms from early 2021, the newest member of Ford’s top-selling Ranger 4x4 line-up, which comprises no less than 30 variants and looks set to again be Australia’s most popular 4x4 ute this year, is available in both 3.2-litre turbo and 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel form.

Pricing is $2200 higher than the premium Wildtrak variants on which they’re based, at $66,490 plus on-road costs and $67,990 plus ORCs respectively. Both models come standard with an automatic transmission (six-speed and 10-speed respectively) and premium paint is a $650 option.

The MY21.25 Ford Ranger Wildtrak X replaces the 2019 Wildtrak X, which is almost sold out, and includes the following tough-truck upgrades over the standard Wildtrak:

  • Genuine Ford black nudge bar
  • Lumen 20.5-inch slimline LED light bar
  • Unique 18-inch black alloy wheels with 35mm offset
  • Wheel-arch flares, now in Ebony Black
  • Unique front grille, now in Ebony Black with Sabre accent ‘nostrils’
  • Unique rear sail plane, now in Ebony Black with Sabre accents
  • Black side steps
  • Roof rails, box rails, lower front bumper insert, rear bumper, headlight and foglight bezels, mirror caps, fender features, door and tailgate handles now all finished in Ebony Black
  • Unique illuminated scuff plates for front doors
  • Unique seat materials and accent colours
  • The new allocation of updated Wildtrak X specials is based on the updated 2020 (MY20.75) Ford Ranger released over the past few months, bringing FordPass Connect embedded modem connectivity.

Ranger WildTrak X comes with slide tray.

Like all new Ford Rangers, it also comes standard with autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection, a five-star ANCAP rating and a five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty.

Other standard safety features include adaptive cruise control, hill descent control, Hill Launch Assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, Active Park Assist and reversing camera, plus an electronic rear differential lock.

Standard Wildtrak features include Power Roller Shutter, 8.0-inch SYNC 3 infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone capability.

WildTrak X also gets a nudge bar and light bar.

With the same 157kW/500Nm Bi-Turbo powertrain as the Ranger Raptor, the Wildtrak X consumes 7.4L/100km and has a 943kg payload, with the 3.2-litre five-cylinder version consumes 8.9L/100km and has a 913kg payload. Both offer a full 3500kg towing capacity.

The updated Wildtrak X is the latest new Ranger 4x4 variant to be announced recently, following the ‘Raptor-lite’ FX4 MAX, XLT Double Cab Chassis XLT Fully Loaded and XL Tradie 4x4.

Unique 18-inch black alloy wheels with 35mm offset.

“Since we first launched the Ranger Wildtrak X in late 2019, it has proven popular with customers because it built on those core thoroughbred Ranger qualities, while offering more personalisation for family weekends away,” said Ford Australia and New Zealand president and CEO, Andrew Birkic.

“With the arrival of the more aggressively designed 2021 Ford Ranger Wildtrak X, we aim to ensure it remains front-of-mind for intending customers.”

How much does the 2021 Ford Range Wildtrak X cost?
