Hino syas that the extreme weather events on Australia's east coast recently have reinforced the need for driving-light kits specially designed for local conditions and purpose-built for the trucks to which they are fitted.
Hino has worked with a local Australian original equipment manufacturer to design a driving light kit for its 300 and 500 Series vehicles which are produced under the company's stringent standards of the QDR (Quality, Durability and Reliability) policy. The kits are Hino-approved and supplied by authorised Hino dealerships.
The LED light kit explores the use of the low-power-draw high-intensity system that was first introduced into the luxury car market only 15 years ago.
It provides spotlight visibility up to 570 metres and a better than 50-metre spread of light up to 329 metres in front of the cab.
The compact two-unit light kit is purpose-built to be installed using special mounting brackets to supplement the genuine equipment bull bar.
"Australia's lighting requirements are in many ways different to other countries and special solutions needed to be applied," said Kirk Harrison, Hino Australia Manager - Parts and Accessories.
"Drivers face the ever-present danger of animal strike in country and even outer-urban regions and our road system is inconsistent in the light patterns it offers.
Development of the Hino LED Driving Light Kit has spanned more than five years, in conjunction with Japanese engineers, and is ongoing as the LED technology continues to be refined.
"A combination of spot and flood visibility, both contained in the same unit, is the most commonly preferred solution for Australian conditions," Mr Harrison said.
Hino developed not only the lights but the durable, sealed waterproof relay system to be totally compatible with the vehicle's electrical protocols.
"More than ever it is imperative to ensure all Hino genuine accessories comply exactly with our original equipment, especially when it relates to safety issues," Mr Harrison said.
The Hino Driving Light Kit has achieved a 50,000-hour lifespan, equivalent to almost six years of 24-hour non-stop use and is covered by a three-year unlimited kilometre warranty when fitted by an authorised Hino dealer.
