Hino Australia has announced its SmartSafe suite of safety technologies is now available as a standard feature across the entire 700 Series range, now encompassing the 700 Series FY 8x4 as well as 4x2, 6x2, and 6x4 models.
“We have already received excellent feedback on the 4x2, 6x2 and 6x4 700 Series models since their launch in August 2021, and that positive customer response supports the inclusion of Hino SmartSafe as standard equipment on all new orders for the 700 Series FY 8x4 models,” said Daniel Petrovski, Department Manager of Product Strategy for Hino Australia.
“As promised, every Hino 700 Series model offered to the Australian market will now include the full Hino SmartSafe safety package as standard equipment.
“The addition of Hino SmartSafe makes the FY 8x4 models an even more enticing choice for customers who require a load-share steer-axle equipped 8x4 truck with the renowned Quality, Durability and Reliability (QDR) that the Hino brand is known for,” he continued.
Hino SmartSafe packages a pre-collision system with autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, along with lane departure warning, vehicle stability control and a reversing camera, among other standard safety features.
It also encompasses a Driver Monitor, which constantly assesses metrics such as driver posture, face orientation, and eyelid movement via a rear-facing camera set into the A-pillar. If the system determines the driver has become distracted or fatigued, a visual and audible alert is issued.
“Safety is a key consideration for Hino in designing our vehicles and we are proud to offer Hino SmartSafe-equipped solutions across all on-road market segments,” Mr Petrovski said.

“Since its launch in August 2021, the range of all-new 700 Series trucks has proven popular with customers – in fact, customer orders have increased by more than 75 per cent compared to this time last year,” said Mr Petrovski.
The entire range meets Euro 6 emissions standards while the FY 8x4 also comes with Hino-Connect telematics, giving operators powerful insights into the truck’s use and behaviour with features like real-time performance data tracking, remote fault diagnostics, and dedicated Hino-Connect support.
The Hino 700 range spans a wide variety of axle configurations, with a new nine-litre engine on offer alongside an updated version of the previous 13-litre engine, with all models mated to a two-pedal transmission line up.
“The entire range of the all-new 700 Series is now safer, cleaner and connected – it’s the truck of the future, here today,” said Mr Petrovski.
