Hino sales steady

Hino says light and medium truck demand up in the first half of 2016
Demand for Hino Australia’s medium-duty 500 Series range increased by almost six per cent in the period to July 2016.
Australian truck buyers took delivery of 1117 Hino 500 Series trucks during this period, which exceeded the 2015 sales results for Hino in the segment.
"Market demand for the Hino 500 Series range continues to grow and 2016 has been no exception, reinforcing our goal to keep faith with our customers’ growing business needs in the face of strong global demand for the 500 Series range," said Bill Gillespie, Hino Australia General Manager of Brand and Franchise Development (pictured).
Mr Gillespie said demand for the 500 Series FE Automatic variants had been particularly strong, leading to minor supply constraints.
"Hino is particularly upbeat about the total market in the second half of 2016.
"Dealer investment in new premises and facilities is commensurately high in anticipation of increased market growth," he said.
"The total investment over the next few years is forecast to exceed $40 million nationally."
According to the Truck Industry Council, the overall commercial vehicle market rose 3.6 per cent in the first half of 2016.
Mr Gillespie also said that demand had exceeded supply for the light-duty 300 Series truck range in the first seven months of the year.
Supply constraints from Japan due to overwhelming demand from global markets meant Hino was restricted on sales and only able to deliver 2455 of the 300 Series trucks during this period.
This result was 2.97 per cent beneath the all-time six-month record set by Hino the previous year.
Mr Gillespie said the company was working with its Japanese parent to address supply issues.
