Hino teases new 300 Series

Due on sale in July, you can bet the new 300 Series will be bristling with tech and safety features

Hino Australia has released the first picture of the new 2020 Hino 300 Series, which will arrive in Hino dealerships nationwide from July.

“With an expanded model line-up, the new 300 Series will once again be a leader in safety while maintaining its excellence in driveability,” said Daniel Petrovski, Product Strategy Manager for Hino Australia.

While Hino wasn’t about to let the cat out of the bag with regards to upgrades of the 300 Series, if the 500 Series is anything to go by, then the 300 should be loaded with safety features and the latest in Japanese light-truck technology.

When the new 500 Series Standard Cab range was launched in April last year, Hino described it as: “The most comprehensive active safety package from a Japanese manufacturer in the medium-duty market.”

Riding on the back the Hino 500 Series Standard Cab which took out the Trucksales Safety Award last year, we reckon the new 300 Series could have the same level of safety equipment.

As a result of the truck's tremendous advances in safety, the 500 Series Standard Cab took out the 2020 Trucksales Safety Award.

And we reckon we’ll see that standard of safety equipment in the new 300 Series.

The standard safety package in the 500 Standard Cab includes a pre-collision system that combines autonomous emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and safety eye (SE), along with adaptive cruise control and a lane departure warning.

In another first for a Japanese brand in the segment, the Hino 500 Standard Cab also uses vehicle stability control.

But the launch of the 500 Series Standard Cab wasn’t just about the fantastic safety features. It sported a new Euro 6 engine that offered more power and had operators claiming fuel savings of up to 10 per cent.

There was also a new interior with improved ergonomics, new colours and a seven-inch multi-media touch screen giving drivers enhanced technology and audio systems.

We speculate that you see all of this and more in the new 300 Series and that it will be a quantum leap forward for Hino and the light-truck market as a whole.

We'll keep you posted as more info comes to hand.
