Hyundai STARIA Load Electric arrives in Australia
Electric van joins the STARIA Load range with 450km of WLTP rangeHyundai has added a battery-electric variant to its STARIA Load line-up, giving buyers a choice of diesel, hybrid or electric power. Priced from $70,990 before on-road costs, the two-seat van uses an 84kWh battery and front-mounted electric motor producing 160kW and 350Nm, with a claimed WLTP driving range of up to 450km.
The 2027 Hyundai STARIA Load Electric is available in two-seat form with either a liftback tailgate or twin swing rear doors.
Its electric powertrain combines a front-mounted motor with an 84kWh battery pack. Hyundai claims energy consumption of 20.7kWh/100km and a WLTP driving range of up to 450km.
Unlike some electric commercial vehicles, the battery packaging has not reduced cargo capacity. The electric model retains the STARIA Load's 4935-litre load volume, with a cargo area measuring 2607mm long, 1640mm wide and 1436mm high.
Payload is rated at 1005kg, while braked towing capacity stands at 2000kg. An interior vehicle-to-load outlet allows the battery to power external devices through a standard three-pin socket in the cargo area.
The electric van is built on Hyundai's 800-volt E-GMP architecture and supports DC charging at up to 350kW. Hyundai says the battery can be replenished from 10 to 80 per cent in 20 minutes under ideal conditions.
Standard equipment includes dual 12.3-inch displays, satellite navigation, over-the-air software updates, wireless phone charging, Shift-by-Wire gear selection and Hyundai's Bluelink connected services.
Safety equipment includes seven airbags, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, blind-spot collision avoidance assist, lane-keeping assist, lane following assist 2, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist and front and rear parking sensors.
The road ahead
The STARIA Load Electric broadens Hyundai's commercial vehicle range as more manufacturers add battery-electric options to the van segment. It will make its Australian public debut at the Everything Electric Sydney show running from 18 to 20 September.
The new variant sits at the top of the STARIA Load range and becomes Hyundai's first electric van offering with a one-tonne payload and 2.0-tonne towing capacity.
