As far as milestones go, the latest Isuzu truck to reach Sherrin Rentals' fleet of elevated work platform (EWP) vehicles ticks numerous boxes.
Not only does the Isuzu FRR in question happen to be the 250,000th Isuzu truck sold in Australia, it’s also been delivered in Isuzu Australia Limited’s 50th year of trading here, which also happens to be Sherrin’s 45th anniversary.
Alongside sister division Sherrin Equipment, Sherrin Rentals falls under the umbrella of nationwide truck and equipment hire business, Sherrin Group. And when the business needed to add yet another truck to its busy fleet of EWPs, the Isuzu FRR fitted the bill perfectly.

Equipped with a 13-metre elevated work platform, the Isuzu FRR 110-260 Auto has plenty of guts to get the job done, its turbo-diesel pushing out 260hp at 2400rpm and 761Nm at 1450rpm.
At the truck’s handover at Sherrin Rentals’ flagship facility in Pinkenba, Brisbane, Sherrin Rentals Managing Director, Grant Sherrin, said the truck was an easy choice, being just one part of a quality overall offering.
“We specialise in equipment honed for the application… our elevated work platforms go from strength to strength and are built on vehicles such as the new FRR 110-260. They’re top notch,” he said.
“But one of the key reasons we recently made the decision to go exclusively with Isuzu is because of the total package the brand can offer us.
“While the safety and power aspect of a vehicle is important, it’s the ease of maintenance and, particularly for Sherrin, how easily we can fit a body to the chassis that is one of the most valuable features.
“Isuzu also has an excellent reputation and we do like to associate ourselves with only the best products.”
Grant said the integration of the truck and its body was a key element for the business.
“The Isuzu platform is fitted in the warehouse with components and equipment manufactured by Sherrin engineers here on-site,” he said. “The unit is then prepped, wrapped, and thoroughly checked for quality assurance.”
Sherrin Rentals says it’s now looking to gradually phase out other truck brands across its 140-strong national fleet, which services a diverse range of applications spanning mining, earthmoving, excavation, civil engineering and more, right across the country.
The company tailors its trucks to meet the specific needs of those applications, with the firm’s new Pinkenba site, which opened in 2020, playing a big part in the process, being equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for manufacturing parts and EWPs, and for maintaining the fleet.
“The new warehouse design is extremely streamlined and helps us be more efficient in what we do best—manufacturing specialised equipment for earthmoving and mining,” Grant said.
“The upgraded facility is really something. We now have more overhead cranes to reduce manual labour and we've been able to put in our own spray booths.
“The wash bay is much bigger, so we can get through a higher volume of washing of the equipment…the upgrade has been better for business but also creates better conditions for all our staff.
“All our Isuzus work so hard for us here at Sherrin Rentals as we put them through a lot, so having that reliability of product backing us is a comfort.”
