Mercedes-Benz Trucks pulled the covers off its new Actros F and Actos Edition 2 in Germany last night (September 23), with the two new models effectively catering to opposite ends of the buyer spectrum but not slated to make their way Down Under.
The Mercedes-Benz Actros F, which goes on sale in Europe in January, is effectively an entry-level model that offers keen pricing but fewer of the features found throughout the brand's higher-spec Actros models.
"The new Actros F is a perfect fit for customers who, for example, are simply looking for a functional truck apart from all the complexities concerning the logistical and organisational processes of their fleet," says Mercedes-Benz.
"These customers are consciously opting for a commercial vehicle with the three-pointed star but don't necessarily need all the innovations present in the most recent Actros generation.

At the other end of the scale then is the new Mercedes-Benz Actros Edition 2 – a fully featured, top-tier and limited-edition model for "innovation-loving professional drivers and self-driving hauliers whose truck is their home and who place great value on individual style and high comfort".
Highlights include a Nappa leather trimmed dash, ambient lighting for the roof hatch, 'Edition 2' badging, full block-out curtains and four LED spotlights in the sun visor. The Actros Edition 2 comes with up to 40 optional extras, and will be available with any of six accessories and options packages.
Limited to just 400 models, the Mercedes-Benz Actros Edition 2 goes on sale in Europe in January, with customer deliveries from April.
