Since 2008, Mark Jamieson has built his mechanic workshop, MJ the Mackman, into a thriving business.

Located in the industrial Perth suburb of Bellevue, the shop services clients from a broad spectrum of backgrounds, including concreting, construction, and long-haul transport, among others.

“We’re a small, family-run mechanical workshop specialising in servicing transport truck fleets – we pride ourselves on being a one-stop shop for Isuzu Trucks, Mack and IVECO,” says Mark.

“Our team is working six days a week and overnights, servicing our customer’s trucks, working on engine component and transmission repairs, sandblasting, panel beating and painting.

“We do short notice repairs, breakdown roadside assistance as well as overnight servicing, alongside our usual offering during the day.

“Nowadays we are always busy, the pace has really picked up for us since 2020.”

With customers hailing from businesses of all sizes, Mark also looks after one client with a 60-strong fleet of Isuzu trucks, so he’s well versed with the brand’s durability.

“The Isuzu engines rarely have issues, and they have a good long shelf life because Isuzu makes a good, reliable truck,” he says.

“The stock levels at Major Motors and Isuzu are always great so we have no problem getting what we need, and the pricing is competitive.”

According to Major Motors Group Parts Manager, Elliott Ramirez, even the distance between Perth and Isuzu’s National Parts Distribution Centre in Melbourne can be effectively managed, ensuring fast turnarounds.

“Being in Western Australia can be a challenge but it’s something that we plan for, to make sure we can always deliver on time; we have great open communication with the team at Isuzu Australia,” Elliott says.

“MJ the Mackman started off buying service kits – oil filters, fuel filters, and air cleaners – then as things grew, we were there to support the business as it progressively moved into mechanical replacement parts, truck body panels and even chassis ladders.
