Pricing and specs revealed for 2024 Toyota HiLux

Full Australian details have been announced for the facelifted Toyota HiLux ute now available Down Under

The facelifted 2024 Toyota HiLux range has landed on Australian soil, armed with a new look, more equipment and 48-volt mild-hybrid technology.

The new ‘V-Active’ fuel-saving system is only available on the double-cab SR 4x4 automatics, double-cab SR5 4x4 automatics and the high-series HiLux Rogue – the rest of the portfolio continues with the familiar array of diesel and petrol engines.

All core HiLux variants save for the WorkMate, SR single-cab and petrol models carry a new front-end design comprising a fresh bumper and a honeycomb mesh grille, supported by a new gloss black rear bumper for the pick-ups.

The SR5 adds dark-finished LED headlights, gloss black exterior mirrors, door handles, tailgate handle and powder-coated sports bar (pick-ups only), while all ute variants score tailgate dampers.

The variant-specific upgrades have meant there is no change to the HiLux’s opening price of $26,475 plus on-road costs, however there are increases further up the range. See our full pricing table below.

The V-Active fuel-saving tech is paired with Toyota’s Multi-Terrain Select (MTS) off-road system, which comprises six off-road drive modes to help improve traction.

“When in high range, MTS can be configured in Dirt, Sand, Mud, Deep Snow and Auto modes, while switching to low range offers Sand, Mud, Auto and Rock modes to provide the ideal mix of traction control in any situation,” Toyota says.

No fuel consumption figures have been released, but the 48V system is claimed to save “up to approximately 10 per cent” over the HiLux’s standard non-electrified 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine – largely through the fitment of an idle-stop system and a reduced idle speed of 600rpm (down from 720rpm).

V-Active is standard on the SR5 and Rogue and optional on the applicable SR models for an extra $590-$1605, depending on the grade.
