Grabbing plenty of attention at the Daimler stand at the recent 2023 Brisbane Truck Show was a Fuso Shogun 510 Tipper, with the truck making its official show debut.
The only Japanese tipper in Australia with over 500hp, the model also packs more torque than its closest rival and has the lightest tare weight in the 500hp-plus tipper category. That spells more load per trip, says Fuso, giving it a productivity advantage.
Painstakingly prepared for the show by Daimler Trucks Gold Coast, the model was showcased alongside its sibling, the Fuso Shogun 510 prime mover, at last week’s Brisbane Truck Show.
Developed specifically for the Australian and New Zealand markets, the truck is powered by Daimler’s OM471 engine that dishes out a potent 510hp and 2500Nm. The engine is mated to the slick-shifting DT12 automated manual transmission.
According to Fuso Truck and Bus Australia Director, Alex Müller, the model offers many benefits across the applications it targets.
“The Shogun 510 Tipper has been embraced enthusiastically by Australian customers who are thrilled to have a Japanese tipper and dog with more than 500hp as well as the aftersales support that comes with every Fuso,” he says.
“Our Shogun 510 customers absolutely love them and you can see the passion with the amount of 510s that are being customised with stainless steel and extra lights.”
As with all Shogun models, the Fuso Shogun 510 Tipper boasts a comprehensive array of sophisticated safety features, including an advanced autonomous emergency braking package with enhanced pedestrian detection.
Other features include adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, a hill start system, attention assist, and electronic stability control, as well as lighting features like LED daytime running lights and Intelligent Headlight Control, which automatically switches high beam on or off as traffic conditions demand.
Inside, drivers benefit from pushbutton starting, a 7-inch multimedia touchscreen, and ergonomically positioned controls. A leather-wrap steering wheel is standard in premium models, while a steering-wheel-mounted driver airbag – absent in many rivals – is standard across the range.
For peace of mind, the Fuso Shogun 510 Tipper comes backed by a five-year/500,000km (whichever comes first) warranty, along with a range of options from Daimler Trucks Financial Services including asset loan, asset hire, finance lease and operating lease as well as a Guaranteed Buy Back program.
